Mac Programs
Macromedia Freehand 8 - Convert all to paths, export as .eps, include any linked graphics
Adobe InDesign CS - Convert all text to outlines then export as pdf
Adobe Illustrator 11 - Convert all fonts to paths then save as .ai, include all linked images
Adobe Photoshop 8 - Mode: CMYK, Create at a minimum resolution of 600. Rasterize all type layers and save as .psd
Adobe Pagemaker 6.5 - Include all fonts and imported graphics with pagemaker file; all created colors should be Type: process, Model: CMYK
Accepted image files - pdf & eps files with a minimum dpi of 600 at 100% of the output size.
PC Programs
Microsoft Word, Works, Excel, Power Point, Publisher and Word Perfect - We can output from these files, however, we do not alter files created in these programs. While these programs may print fine on your personal printer, they were not created for commercial printing. KQP cannot control the output colors and does not recommend these programs for process/full color pieces.
Method of Printing
Single Color - Should be created with 100% black and shades of.
Multi/Spot Color - Files should be created CMYK with black being 100% Black, the second color 100% Cyan, using 100% Magenta and 100% Yellow for additional colors
Process/Full Color - File should be created CMYK, any black text should be 100% K (not a mixture of CMYK)
Additional Tips
Bleeds - If the image goes to the edge of the sheet to be printed, an additional .125 of image should be built in to allow for cutting inconsistencies. Files without a .125 bleed may have white lines on some edges.
Cut Lines - Do not outline the edge of your image with a line to "cut" on, these lines will show on some edges of your finished project. A short half point line .125 outside of the image may be added to note cut lines, however it is not necessary.
Web Images - Graphics taken off the internet may look great on the screen, however they will not print sharply. A general rule of thumb is jpgs less than 1MB are low resolution and will not print well.
Standard Margins - .375 press grip is needed on the short edge of the sheet. Projects that are supplied with less than this may be reduced 97%.
Disc Submission - Please make sure when supplying a disc with multiple files you know the name of the file or have supplied a disc map. If we have to hunt for your file additional fees will be incurred.
